What does a school counselor do? They help all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and career development, ensuring today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow.
How can counselor help me? Students can seek one-on-one help from their school counselor to discuss academic or personal issues, such as bullying, or seek crisis counseling.
How do counselors work with parents? Counselors can offer families strategies on parenting and helpful advice on how to connect with their children. Counselors also have access to community resources if requested.
I want to change my schedule, what do I do? All schedule changes go directly through your assigned counselor based on your last name. Mrs. Jokisch is A-K and Mrs. Williamson is L-Z. Schedule changes are on an individual basis as many components are taken into consideration such as attendance, behavior, STAAR score, current grades and class availability.
Can I be in athletics and not play football? No, football is a requirement of the course.
What if I’m in PE and want to try out for basketball? You may attend basketball tryouts. If you make the team we can the look into a schedule change for athletics. Good Luck!
I want to be in band, can I sign up? You will need to meet with the Band Director, Monica G. Dominguez first so she can assess where to place you.
I want to be a counselor office aide; how do I sign up? Applications are accepted in May at the end of each school year. Only incoming 8th graders are considered for this role. Grades, attendance, behavior are also taken into consideration as well as an interview.
